    Hey Friends,

Harris and I and our wives were in blacksburg last week to hang with the sloops.  While we were there we noticed a huge log was blocking the secret way out of the back parking area.  It made me wonder about what the best things that have been ever added to or taken away from the willard house have been…

here’s a few that I know of of the top of my head.

    1.  Trampoline… I don’t know how those guys live there without one

    2. tree house… both added and taken away!

lets keep going with this one…

computer room. adding this made lots of fellowship happen. when i say fellowship, i mean chatting on AIM with people that were 2 feet away and trying to make them laugh.

When the office left, it was not as cool. I personally saw that transition.

The hole that Mark’s butt left in the wall… it was added during a spirited game of ping-pong and then “taken away” months later. You have to also include the picture wall as something awesome that was added to the Willard house (and has since not been taken away… big ups to the guys currently living there for not taking it down, even though they’ve added maybe 3 pictures).

      Ok, a couple thoughts here:
      1. Chalkboard wall in kitchen – I had dreamed that this would be much sweeter than it is. Is it still there?
      2. Purple paint on basement floor – added, then taken away briefly (covered with carpet) for a dance party, then repainted.
      3. Wall-size mirror in bathroom. I think this was gone last time i was there and I was astonished. Who doesn’t want a wall sized mirror in their bathroom? Nobody. That’s who.

Ian, the chalkboard wall is still there and seemingly still used. Nice touch.

      1. Putting a couch on the front porch facing in with a tv in the window so we could play video games when it was nice out and not feel too worthless.
      2. This is actually one of the worst additions, but when Hunter bought that foam toliet seat. I mean what was he thinking?
      3. Also I liked Ian’s painting of the pink toliet that we hung in the bathroom.

i was thinking, foam=soft and cushy, not foam=smaller

That stupid dude who is paid to ride around on his bike and judge what isn’t attractive took that couch away. If I ever find him…

one of the best things that was taken away from the willard house was the poop water that flooded the basement… Twice!

One of the best things added and taken away was the loft in my room during my second year (the little room in the front. I was so proud of my loft and two desk system. Did anyone else use it or was it trashed immediately?
There was also a sweet bucket of oil that we used to store right beside the back steps. I’m pretty sure I had someone take that away.

Added and taken away was the hole in the kitchen window when Philip and Troy went at it and Troy sent a chair or golf club (don’t remember which) through the living room, dining area and out the window!

I will go with the couch outside as well. Not for the video games though, but more for the love of coming home from a class knowing the cubbies were on and knowing harris and the big red blankie were waiting for me to join them.

i also like this. The idea of a literal video is funny to me. I thought it would funnier in principle than it was. I started clicking through some of the other literal videos and was not that impressed.

In other news. This blog is awesome.

This is amazing. Megan and I were dying last night watching it. “What the effing crap, this angel guy just felt me up.” The most amazing part is probably that this is an actual video! A whole lot of people thought this was really good at one point in time.

    Help Needed

Ok… So at Pat’s wedding… Harris, Philip, and I starting talking about some of the greatest things of all time.  I would like for us to use our combinded powers to pull together some of those things.  Here’s what I want

    1. Greatest Guitar Solo’s of all time

    2. Greatest Key Change songs of all time

    3. Greatest songs where the music cuts out leaving only the drums and you begin to clap over your head for no reason!

Let’s post our idea’s and if you are so inclined… perhaps do a little research on Youtube and post a link with your nomination!

    Thank you…

My first nomination for both key change and drum hand clap song is this little gem…  you should listen to it all but if you are pressed for time…. start at 3:00

    Mo out

Best guitar solo: this is a 2 parter, and the video is really what makes it sweet: November Rain.
Part 1 (starting a round 4:30) Slash walks out of the church (which is much smaller than it looked when he was inside) smoking a cigarette and begins sweet solo number 1.
Part 2 (starting around 7:25) Slash gets on the piano. ‘Nuff said.

Ian, my face melted with that second guitar solo… I forgot how freaking soul-shattering that one was.

I was pretty excited when I remembered this song, but it actually doesn’t have a key change like I thought it did. It does have a bitchin’ guitar solo, a boisterous hand clap, and a freaking sweet video to boot.

Now here is a classic 80s video. Starts out in black and white with the guys goofing off preparing for a concert. You’ve got the fellas flying around on ropes lookin all good in their leather outfits and big 80s hair. Next thing you know the video goes into color with real concert footage! Not only that, there’s a sweet solo into a key change! What more could you want?!?!?!?
